Why We Built This

Every DnD session, every fantasy novel, every Skyrim playthrough starts with the same problem: what do I name this character? Generic name generators give you random syllables. We give you names that feel like they actually belong in the world you're building.

Our generators are tuned per universe — Elvish names sound elvish, Drow names sound menacing, Dragonborn names carry draconic weight. The static engine fires instantly so you're never waiting. The AI layer adds meanings and pronunciations within a second.

How It Works

Every generator uses a two-layer approach. The static engine runs entirely in your browser using carefully crafted prefix/suffix pools — you get 10 names in under 50ms. Simultaneously, the AI engine calls Gemini 2.0 Flash in the background and replaces the static names with richer, AI-generated versions complete with meanings and pronunciations — usually within 1–2 seconds.

Results are cached so repeat requests are served instantly. You never see a loading screen. If the AI is unavailable for any reason, the static names stay and the site keeps working perfectly.

Built With

The site is built with Astro, deployed on Cloudflare Pages, with a Cloudflare Worker handling the AI layer and Cloudflare D1 for caching. AI enrichment is powered by Google Gemini 2.0 Flash.
